I love this series. This book as just as good as the other two in the series, although, I think that The Hunger Games will always be my favourite of the three.

The only thing that bothered me with this book is Prim’s death. It seemed like more imagery than anything else. For such an important person to Katniss, I would have expected more details.

I can’t wait for the movie and I want to re-read the series again as I’m sure I’ll find stuff that I missed the first time around.

About the Book:

This book was ok. It was interesting at the beginning but as the book wore on, it got repetitive and boring. Colin is not an interesting character and his best friend was annoying after awhile. Still an interesting read for what it is.

I liked this book. Holt is described as being “the godmother of modern Norwegian crime fiction”. Even though it is a well-written story, I think some of the plot gets lost in translation. It did keep my guessing until the very end though. However, I have to make the point that being repeatedly reminded that the main character in the book was paralysed after being shot, injured, can’t feel her legs, can’t stand and/or injured got a little bit annoying.

About the Book:

A train on its way to the northern reaches of Norway derails during a massive blizzard, 1,222 meters above sea level. The passengers abandon the train for a nearby hotel, centuries-old and practically empty, except for the staff. With plenty of food and shelter from the storm, the passengers think they are safe, until one of them is found dead the next morning.

With no sign of rescue, and the storm continuing to rage, retired police inspector Hanne Wilheimsen is asked to investigate. Paralysed by a bullet lodged in her spine, Hanne has no desire to get involved. But she is slowly coaxed back into her old habits as her curiosity and natural talent for observation force her to take an interest in the passengers and their secrets. When another body turns up, Hanne realizes that time is running out, and she must act fast before panic takes over. I liked this book. The characters were likeable and the plot moved at a good pace. The on the run storyline got a little old but overall, it was a good book.

It’s not that Micayla Lange is afraid of the clinking she hears coming from the first floor of the empty McMansion she’s housesitting for her uncle Nicco. She’s a cop, after all. It’s just that finding out her boyfriend was cheating on her was enough drama for one night. Now she’s alone on New Year’s Eve, wearing flannel pajamas and wielding a Glock 22 as she zeroes in on the unmistakable source of the sound: Uncle Nicco’s private office.

Jason Davis steals things for a living, so unexpected developments are a natural part of the job. This book took me FOREVER to read! That being said, I loved it! It was very hard to put down and I fell even more in love with Jamie Fraser. He makes the perfect literary boyfriend! I was a little weary of the 20 year gap in the plot between the second book and this book but Gabaldon pulled it out nicely. I can’t wait to move on to the fourth book!
