I DEVOURED this book! It’s so good! I definitely recommend this one to anyone who is looking for a psychological thriller.

 About the Book:

A lifetime ago, every year Caroline Shipley looked forward to her wedding anniversary. But then a celebratory trip to Mexico for the occasion with her husband and friends ended in the unsolved kidnapping of her infant daughter, Samantha. Now, fifteen years after that horrific time, divorced and isolated,Caroline is forced to relive the kidnapping by reporters who call every year on the anniversary of Samantha’s disappearance. However, this year when the phone rings, Caroline hears the sweet voice of a girl claiming to be her long-lost daughter. Plunged back into the world of heartbreak, suspicion and questions that led the case to run cold so many years ago, Caroline doesn’t know what or who to believe. I’m still enjoying this series although I’m glad that I have to take a break from it as Clary got on my nerves a little bit in this book. She has had the “Bella Swan” syndrome right from book one (throwing herself in danger for a boy that she absolutely cannot live without and not thinking of the consequences to her family and friends who have to ultimately come to her defense and try to save her). I realize that this is a common trope in YA so I’m not going to take points off of the book for that. It is what it is. I just need a little break from it as it will prevent me from fully enjoying book 6.

Even though this book was a bit of a slow burn, I really did enjoy it and I can’t wait to see what happens in book 6.

About the Book:

hat price is too high to pay, even for love? When Jace and Clary meet again, Clary is horrified to discover that the demon Lilith’s magic has bound her beloved Jace together with her evil brother Sebastian, and that Jace has become a servant of evil. The Clave is out to destroy Sebastian, but there is no way to harm one boy without destroying the other. As Alec, Magnus, Simon, and Isabelle wheedle and bargain with Seelies, demons, and the merciless Iron Sisters to try to save Jace, Clary plays a dangerous game of her own. The price of losing is not just her own life, but Jace’s soul. She’s willing to do anything for Jace, but can she still trust him? Or is he truly lost?

Love. Blood. Betrayal. Revenge. Darkness threatens to claim the Shadowhunters in the harrowing fifth book of the Mortal Instruments series.

I will admit. After reading the first three books, I was not in a real rush to read the rest of this series. But I have started watching the tv show, Shadowhunters, and I’m really enjoying it so it has sparked my interested in reading the rest of the series.

I really enjoyed this installment. I loved the Simon aspects of the book as he is one of my favourite characters. I always enjoy some Magnus Bane and I also enjoyed seeing him in the story. I’m really interested in seeing where the story goes next.

 About the Book:

The Mortal War is over, and sixteen-year-old Clary Fray is back home in New York, excited about all the possibilities before her. She’s training to become a Shadowhunter and to use her unique power. Her mother is getting married to the love of her life. Downworlders and Shadowhunters are at peace at last. And—most importantly of all—she can finally call Jace her boyfriend.

But nothing comes without a price.

Someone is murdering Shadowhunters, provoking tensions between Downworlders and Shadowhunters that could lead to a second, bloody war. Clary’s best friend, Simon, can’t help her—his mother just found out that he’s a vampire, and now he’s homeless. When Jace begins to pull away from her without explaining why, Clary is forced to delve into the heart of a mystery whose solution reveals her worst nightmare: she herself has set in motion a terrible chain of events that could lead to her losing everything she loves. Even Jace.

I loved this book! When I read Winter I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to this series and I’m so glad that I had a little extra time with my beloved characters. I enjoyed all of the stories, some more than others, but it was an overall great read!

 About the Book:

The enchantment continues….

With nine stories—five of which have never before been published—and an exclusive never-before-seen excerpt from Marissa Meyer’s upcoming novel, Heartless, about the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland, Stars Above is essential for fans of the bestselling and beloved Lunar Chronicles.

The Little Android: A retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Little Mermaid,” set in the world of The Lunar Chronicles.
Glitches: In this prequel to Cinder, we see the results of the plague play out, and the emotional toll it takes on Cinder. Something that may, or may not, be a glitch….
The Queen’s Army: In this prequel to Scarlet, we’re introduced to the army Queen Levana is building, and one soldier in particular who will do anything to keep from becoming the monster they want him to be.

This was a solid thriller by Patterson and Karp that definitely had me turning the pages. The only thing is, this story is 336 pages long. There’s three cases that needed to be solved by NYPD Red and it seemed like the book was too short for all that plot. Even still, it was a good read.

 About the Book:

In a city where crime never sleeps, NYPD Red is the elite task force called in only when a case involves the rich, famous, and connected. Detective Zach Jordan and his partner, Kylie MacDonald–the woman who broke his heart at the police academy–are the best of the best, brilliant and tireless investigators who will stop at nothing to catch a criminal, even if it means antagonizing the same high-flying citizens they’re supposed to be helping.

When a glitzy movie premiere is the scene of a shocking murder and high-stakes robbery, NYPD Red gets the call. Traversing the city’s highs and lows, from celebrity penthouses to the depths of Manhattan’s criminal underworld, Zach and Kylie have to find a cold-blooded killer–before he strikes again.

This book was AMAZING! I rate it more of a 4.5 than a 4 but since I we can’t do half-star reviews, I’m rating it a 4. I’m definitely still Team Maven. He’s the perfect psychopath that  I love in books. I can’t wait for the next one!

 About the Book:

Mare Barrow’s blood is red—the color of common folk—but her Silver ability, the power to control lightning, has turned her into a weapon that the royal court tries to control.

The crown calls her an impossibility, a fake, but as she makes her escape from Maven, the prince—the friend—who betrayed her, Mare uncovers something startling: she is not the only one of her kind.

Pursued by Maven, now a vindictive king, Mare sets out to find and recruit other Red-and-Silver fighters to join in the struggle against her oppressors.

But Mare finds herself on a deadly path, at risk of becoming exactly the kind of monster she is trying to defeat.

Will she shatter under the weight of the lives that are the cost of rebellion? Or have treachery and betrayal hardened her forever?
